2025 80+ Team Canada
Bill Orban, George Wilson, Frank Shychoski, Harve Birns and Ed Haussecker

This year’s Award which is presented to those players/members who volunteered to make this league into the Best league in Canada. And what better way to do that is—by beating those US Buggers and winning the Canada Cup!
So, I’m going to take you back to the Fall of 2024 when Dave Hume, Canadian 80+ Hall of Fame, Western Canada Board Member put together five 80 year olds and sent them to Ontario as a line –2 defencemen and 3 forwards. They joined up with our Eastern Buddies from Burlington and beat the Americans to win the Canada Cup in 2024.
They were Bill Orban, George Wilson, Frank Shychoski, Harve Birns and Ed Haussecker. Congratulations Guys!
Now fast-forward to just a few months ago and Dave Hume sent 5 more again to join up with the Burlington Team. This time the format changed. 2 teams from Canada and two from the US.
A round robin with the two US teams and another Canadian Team from Ottawa.
Our guys in the round robin won 7-0, 8-0 and 6-3.
They then played the 2nd place team from the US in the Gold Medal Game and beat them 5-0 !
They were Bill Orban, George Wilson, Harve Birns and Rob Jule who took Frank Shychoski’s place –since Frank , our 60+ Buddy recently passed away.
They all payed their own way, volunteered and represented the Schroh Arena, our 60+ league, Our province and our Country and we are extremely proud of all of them.

Assembly included woodwork, building individual stall sections, benches. hardware connections, heavy brackets, painting and more painting.
The Committee organized flexible crews over the entire construction time. General maintenance involved day-to-day setup, lifting ,assisting, hauling, cleaning up and gopher work.
Their dedication to leadership, workmanship and organization was commendable.
